Wrap-around supports for the business of good

For emerging, grassroots community initiatives, In(form)ed’s Fiscal Sponsorship Services provide access to a suite of back-office solutions, allowing new initiatives to conduct proof of concept testing, while enjoying the benefits of being a project under In(form)ed’s parent nonprofit, Community Shares of Mid Ohio.

Your project can rely on In(form)ed to provide these services indefinitely, so that you can focus on building the capacity of your mission work, and leave the fiduciary oversight, fiscal management, and other administrative duties to In(form)ed. For other emerging projects, after completing your proof of concept, you may decide to transition your project to an independent entity, such as a nonprofit or LLC — or whatever business structure will best accommodate what your project is trying to accomplish. In(form)ed provides support to ensure these successful transitions.

Wrap-around supports that come with our Fiscal Sponsorship Services include:

Bookkeeping, Accounting and Payroll

In(form)ed processes all of your requests for reimbursements, pays your vendors, and provides payroll services.

Legal Services

Through your Fiscal Sponsorship Services agreement with In(form)ed, all of your contracts, service agreements, and employment contracts will be reviewed and approved by Community Shares of Mid Ohio’s legal team. This service is provided at no additional cost to the project and provides an extra layer of protection.

Grants and Tax-exempt Nonprofit Status through Community Shares of Mid Ohio

As a project under Community Shares of Mid Ohio, you will have the opportunity to apply for grants available through community, corporate, and family foundations. And, all of the purchases we make on behalf of your project will be exempt from sales tax. If your project sells goods or services in the State of Ohio, your project is also not required to charge sales tax.

Access to Donor Giving Platform

As a project under Community Shares of Mid Ohio, you will have access to your own Donorbox. Donorbox is a secure cloud-based tool for donations (including recurring donations), event registration, and memberships.

Insurance

Insurance coverage is included as part of In(form)ed’s standard Fiscal Sponsorship Agreement. The cost is included as part of our overall annual fees.

TechSoup is a nonprofit that offers technology applications and solutions to nonprofit organizations at discounted rates.
